Parents can use this time to discuss any changes in home life or any worries or questions they may have. Practitioners work in partnership with parents to agree on and set clear and achievable next steps for their child and give examples of how parents can help with activities and experiences at home.

Children’s Extra Curricular Experiences.

Opportunities are organized for the children, which include parties and other experiences such as Sam’s Safari, the mobile farm and children’s character visits, which they can see or attend with their parents if it is not their regular day. These opportunities support the children in noticing the close relationships between their home and nursery family and the experiences they share together. We also arrange a variety of visits to nursery from important people from the world around us, such as police and fire visits, the Reverend from the local church, dentist visits, the Easter Bunny and Santa!

Other extra curricular experiences include Rugby Tots, Kixx and Relax kids which parent’s have the opportunity to enrol their child in.

Rugby Tots (2024 – 2026)

“Promoting children’s physical development and levels of activity are key aspects of the sessions. The heart of every Rugbytots class is to build children’s confidence and self-esteem. Children acquire new knowledge and show their understanding in areas of learning covered by the EYFS framework. Rugbytots makes all of this more fun through an energetic and imaginative set of games and activities tailored to suit the specific educational needs of the age group taking part.

Be prepared to run across the jungle, wade through the quick sand or sprint through Rugbytots Valley avoiding all the smoking boulders. Get ready to protect your egg, launch a missile or attack the pirates and seize the ship, all this of course, whilst trying to avoid the evil side lines!” Rugbytots  fun, structured play sessions take children on a journey of sporting imagination with engaging and energetic coaches supporting them every step of the way whilst teaching how to catch, pass, kick, run with the ball and play as part of a team.

Kixx (2017 – Ongoing)

As a children’s football academy, Kixx provide a high-energy, fun, and imaginative introduction to physical activity, all through the power of football. The sessions are also a brilliant way for children to build friendships and grow in confidence. The Kixx curriculum focuses on developing both physical skills and social skills — helping every child learn, move, and thrive in a supportive environment.

Kixx sessions develop children’s physical and social skills simultaneously promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. The sessions have been created and developed by professional footballers and trained coaches who use the best games, drills, exercises and materials for working with this age group. All sessions provide a fun, playful, safe environment which encourages children to develop a positive sense of themselves, respect for others, a positive disposition to learn new skills, and a sense of pride in their ability to master them.

Relax Kids (2023 – Ongoing)

For 25 years, Relax Kids has helped thousands of teachers and professionals and worked with over 40 councils and organisations support children’s mental and emotional wellbeing. Mental health reports show a rise in anxiety, emotional struggles and trauma in children. Without early support, these issues can grow and affect learning, behaviour and long term wellbeing.

With the Relax Kids approach, children can regulate emotions and reduce anxiety, build confidence and concentration, improve focus, behaviour and self awareness, develop resilience and lifelong wellbeing skills. Relax Kids believe that relaxation and a positive outlook are the keys to good mental health, self-esteem, emotional intelligence and emotional resilience. The mission is to give children and young people the tools they need to help them manage stress and anxiety and to be more resourceful when facing the challenges of daily life.

The Relax Kids system was used in a CAMHS project that won the 2011 UK Nursing Standards Award (Mental Health Category).

Parent Visits

At Sunny Bright, we welcome parents and carers to join us in the nursery to do activities such as baking and planting vegetables with their child and some of their peers. We also provide opportunities for parents and carers to stay and play to promote sharing nursery experiences together and further strengthening the relationship between nursery and home.

Parent’s Training

At Sunny Bright, we arrange training experiences such as first aid from an outside professional and also offer any workshops in-house, delivered by our practitioners, for subjects which our parents show an interest in.

I had such a nice morning and the children were so patient and listened to the instructions (parent baking session). Thank you so much for organising.
